Before I spoke a word
You were singing over me
You have been so, so
Good to me

Before I took a breath You
breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so
Kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming,never-ending
reckless love of God

Oh, it chases me down
fights `til i'm found leaves the ninety-nine

I couldn't earn it,
I don't deserve it
still you gave yourself away

Oh, the overwhelming,never-ending
reckless love of God

When I was your foe, still
your love fought for me
You have been so, so
Good to me

When I felt no worth
You paid it all for me
You have been so, so
Kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming,never-ending
reckless love of God

Oh, it chases me down
fights `til i'm found leaves the ninety-nine

I couldn't earn it,
I don't deserve it
still you gave yourself away

There's no shadow You won't light up
mountain You won't climb up coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
No lie You won't tear down coming after me

    1. Refers to Luke 15 and the parable of the one lost sheep.
"If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?"

  4. My church plays this song and it's a nice song, but I just have one question: Is God's love really reckless? The official definition of "Reckless" is "without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action." I truly don't think anything God does or says is careless. Everything he does has a purpose, especially his love towards us. Again, it's a nice song but I don't entirely agree with it.

    1. His love is absolutely reckless. He gave up everything for the mere thought of me. He had no guarantee that I would choose Him. He saw what I could be and He gave up His son, He gave up Himself just so that I could have a shot at having access to Him. He threw and continues to throw all caution to the wind when it comes to me. He will stop at nothing to capture my heart. He is the greatest love story in existence. That's how much He loves me. That's how much He loves you.

  5. It may help the above reader to think of the word reckless as abandoned and outrageous! Either way God love doesn't make logical sense!
